Compared with the existing synthesis method of 1, 6-hexanediol, the method has the advantages of simple process, no introduction of liquid acid, no waste acid discharge, recyclable catalyst and the like. The glucose can be completely converted in the method, and the yield of the 1, 6-hexanediol can reach 50 percent at most.

The method comprises the following steps: placing cellulose in water, and reacting under the action of hydrogen atmosphere and catalyst to obtain 1-hydroxy-2-butanone and 3-hydroxy-2-butanone. The catalyst consists of a component A and a component B; the component A is a tungsten-based compound (main active component), and the component B is prepared by taking one or more of transition metals of groups 8, 9 and 10, such as iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, iridium and platinum, as a second metal component and loading the second metal component on one or more porous materials. The catalyst can realize the catalytic conversion of cellulose into 1-hydroxy-2-butanone with high efficiency, high selectivity and high yield under the hydrothermal condition of 200-260 ℃ and the initial pressure of a reaction system of 20-80 atm. Compared with the existing industrial synthesis route of 1-hydroxy-2-butanone taking 1, 2-butanediol as a reaction raw material, the reaction provided by the invention has the advantages that the raw material is renewable resources, the reaction process is green and environment-friendly, and the added economic value of the product is high.
